How do I know which type of Mac I have?

Click the Apple in the top left corner of your screen and select About This Mac.

In the window that opens, look at which type of processor your computer has. If it contains the word "Intel," you have an intel chip. If it does not, it likely says something such as "M1" or "M2" and you have an Apple Silicon chip.
