Rendition - Understanding Zones

This article explains what Zones are in Rendition and how they help you assign different chords, modifiers or arpeggios to different keys or keyboard ranges.

What Are Zones in Rendition?

Zones let you divide your keyboard into different ranges where each section can trigger a unique chord or arpeggio. It’s like mapping different musical ideas across your keyboard, all with single-note input.

How to Use Zones:

  1. Set the Number of zones in the Key Panel on the left.
  2. Find the Zones section in the plugin toward the bottom, above the visual layout of the keyboard.
  3. For each zone, set to CHORD, ARP, or MOD.
  4. Adjust the size of the zone by grabbing the slider buttons above the keys.

Why Use Zones?

  • You can place major chords in the lower range and minor or extended chords in the upper.
  • Use MOD zones to change parameters for CHORD and ARP zones.
  • Use multiple zones to switch between different chord types or rhythmic feels during a performance.
  • Great for live use — your keyboard becomes a musical control surface.
