Rendition - How to Set Up in Ableton
Since Ableton Live does not natively support Midi FX plugin, follow these steps to properly route the MIDI plug-in Rendition to an instrument in Ableton Live. This configuration allows Rendition to process MIDI data before sending it to your chosen virtual instrument.
1. Create Two MIDI Tracks
Create two new MIDI tracks in your Ableton Live session. You can do this by right-clicking in the track area and selecting "Insert MIDI track" or by using the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+T
(Windows) or Cmd+Shift+T
(Mac).
2. Load Rendition and Your Instrument
On the first MIDI track, which you've named "Rendition," load the Rendition . On the second track, load the virtual instrument you wish to control, for instance, a "Grand Piano."
3. Configure MIDI Routing
This is the crucial step to ensure that the MIDI information flows from Rendition to your instrument.
- Set Rendition Track to "In":
- Set Instrument Track's MIDI Input:
- Select "Rendition" from the Second Dropdown:
- Arm the Instrument Track:
By following this setup, any MIDI you play will first be processed by Rendition and then trigger the sound from your instrument on the second track, allowing you to fully utilize Rendition's capabilities. You can also record Midi either on the Rendition track and it will apply any effects as if you were playing it, or you can record the altered midi directly on the instrument track.
