Rendition - How to set up in ProTools
There are 2 ways to set up Rendition in ProTools. The MIDI output differs between the 2 solutions, so pick the one that works with your workflow.
Simply use it on an instrument track. This option does NOT print the complex midi generated by Rendition.
Add Rendition to the first insert on an instrument track, and add any instrument plugin after it. This will print the MIDI that is input into the plugin, not the output, but you'll still hear arps and chords on your instrument.
OR
See the actual MIDI info Rendition generates on your timeline, and also send it to multiple instruments at once.
First, make sure you have "Instruments" showing in your mix or edit window. This is where you will navigate the MIDI input sources. (View / Mix Window View / Instruments)

STEPS:
- Create 2 instrument tracks.
- Add Rendition to the first one (I titled mine 'Rendition')
- Add any instrument to the second one (Called Instrument 1)
- On the second channel, at the very top, select the MIDI Chain OUT from the first one as the MIDI Input.
- If you record BOTH channels, you'll see single notes on the first one and full chords on the second.
- TIP: you can create as many instrument tracks as you want to receive this information!.
